One appearance · native terminal configs

Your terminal.
Still in tune.

Kitty, Alacritty, Ghostty can follow the same Hornero appearance. The desktop renders colors in each terminal’s native format. Install the emulators you want, then choose which one Hornero opens.

A real session, not a theme mockup

The palette reaches the prompt.

Kitty keeps its native configuration and receives Hornero’s generated colors in Kitty’s own format. The same appearance engine writes the matching output for Alacritty and Ghostty when they are installed.

3 emulators, one color source

Native where it matters.

Hornero keeps each terminal’s conventions intact. Your selected wallpaper palette is translated to the native format rather than forcing every emulator through one generic theme file.

01

Kitty

Factory choice

GPU-accelerated, with the Kitty graphics protocol used by Yazi previews.

INSTALL FROM ARCH REPOSITORIESsudo pacman -S --needed kitty
FACTORY CONFIGinclude ~/.cache/hornero/smart-colors/colors-kitty.conf
Config file
~/.config/kitty/kitty.conf
Generated palette
colors-kitty.conf
Written under
~/.cache/hornero/smart-colors/

A static Hornero Dark or Light palette keeps the terminal readable before the first generated scheme.

02

Alacritty

Supported alternative

A compact TOML configuration with live reload; Yazi image previews use the Wayland adapter through Überzug++ where configured.

INSTALL FROM ARCH REPOSITORIESsudo pacman -S --needed alacritty
FACTORY CONFIGimport = ["hornero-dark.toml", "hornero-colors.toml"]
Config file
~/.config/alacritty/alacritty.toml
Generated palette
hornero-colors.toml
Written under
~/.config/alacritty/

The packaged dark/light fallback and generated color file are imported separately, so wallpaper colors can update without replacing your base config.

03

Ghostty

Supported alternative

A native Ghostty theme with a stable name that Hornero can refresh when appearance changes.

INSTALL FROM ARCH REPOSITORIESsudo pacman -S --needed ghostty
FACTORY CONFIGtheme = Hornero Dynamic
Config file
~/.config/ghostty/config.ghostty
Generated palette
Hornero Dynamic
Written under
~/.config/ghostty/themes/

A packaged system fallback is available before Hornero writes the user-level wallpaper palette.

A practical workflow

Install. Choose. Apply a look.

  1. Install a terminalKitty is the factory choice. The other listed emulators remain optional packages.
  2. Select it in SettingsControl Center marks installed choices and prevents selecting a terminal that is not present.
  3. Change appearanceHornero writes fresh native palettes for all 3 integrations; the active terminal reads its own file.

This page describes the current Arch package integration. Terminal packages are separate from Hornero Shell; installing Hornero does not require installing every emulator.
